Overview

Feel most welcome to join a proud 'farense' (those born and bred in town) on a walking tour of our hometown! We have been hosting guided visits for groups of the most diverse origins for years.

You will discover the old town and city centre of Faro while covering some of the main cultural influences and its long history as we walk by the most relevant sites.

We start at Arco da Vila, the iconic monumental archway into the old town or Vila Adentro, it's unmistakable with it's prominent belltower and location at the square of the marina. Look for the red umbrella and enjoy an informative and easy going tour that will take you on journey through time and end up with our day-to-day lifestyle. Being guided by a local you will be able to understand better our cultural identity!

Notice

We are a fully independent group of local guides and your free, responsible contribution is our only source of income.

Should you need to leave before the end of the tour please do let us know so that we are informed.

Please wear appropriate shoes and clothes for walking and being outside, depending on weather conditions.

Light-weight gear is recommended, keep in mind the duration of the tour, which is around 2 hours.

Please note that participation is on a voluntary basis, Faro Free Walking Tours and the guides will not be responsible for any injury to body or property during the tours.

On Arrival

The meeting point is at Arco da Vila, the monumental archway and main access to the old town (or Vila Adentro).

It's unmistakable due to it's prominent belltower and it is located right next to the tourism info office in Faro.

We will be there with our red umbrella to meet and greet before starting the walking tour.
